Current available position: CATHODIC PROTECTION TECHNOLOGIST

Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in this role will report to the Technical Director. The Cathodic Protection Technologist will be integral to ensuring the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Cathodic Protection (CP) related assets.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

Completion of specialized CP testing

Completion of CP annual evaluation surveys to licensed pipelines, plant piping and above-ground storage tanks

Collect CP readings, soil resistivity testing and gather any other external corrosion related data from dig sites and facilities as required

Understand and execute various data acquisition and assessment procedures that are specific to pipeline integrity programs

Locate pipelines and document positional pipeline information utilizing electro-magnetic and GPS equipment

Complete over-the-line survey techniques such as CIS, PCM, DCVG, ACVG.

Organize and optimize survey information collected in order to prepare reporting charts and tables

Completion of deficiency correction and investigation items such as isolation repairs, bond repairs, diagnostic testing and stray current investigations

Assist senior personnel in the preparation of survey and design reports and final job reports

Reading and interpreting maps, drawings, procedures, survey results, plots, reports and applicable operation and repair manuals

Respond to field operations, management and technical requests as required

Install, test, adjust and/or repair rectifiers, anodes, and CP test points / stations

Manage customer/client relationship

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred: Materials, Metallurgical, or Electrical Engineering

NACE CP2 certification preferred

AIT CP Level 2 certification considered an asset

Experience with AC induction studies considered an asset

Proficiency with Autocad considered an asset

Able to travel and work overtime on an as needed basis

Class 5 driver’s license (non-GDL) or equivalent, with acceptable driving record

Work week is 40 hours per week + overtime as needed.

As this position is identified as safety and security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment drug/alcohol test and an Alberta Drivers Abstract for the past three years with satisfactory results.
